Venice Marco Polo Airport is located on the mainland, about 8 kilometers north of the city and is the fourth busiest airport of Italy.

Venice Marco Polo Airport, as the name suggests, bears the name of the famous Italian merchant, explorer, and writer Marco Polo. The modern terminal, which is used today, was opened in 2002. The first and second floors of the terminal, which have three floors, are the arrivals and departures passenger halls respectively. Also, there are facilities to meet the needs of passengers. On the top floor of the airport are the offices of major airlines and tourism companies in Europe and Italy. The airport has an annual capacity of 12 million passengers.
Transport from Venice Marco Polo Airport to the City Center
Buses and taxis are options for getting to the city center from Venice Marco Polo Airport. According to public transport laws in Venice, motor vehicles can reach the Rome terminal. From here you can go to your hotel by waterbuses called Vaporetto and enjoy the magnificent city views of Venice on the way.
Taxis are the most convenient transportation option you can use to get to the Piazzale Roma terminal from the airport. Taxis are available 24 hours a day and take about 20 minutes, depending on the traffic situation. Although there is no specific price, it costs about 35 €(2019).
Other transportation options are buses. The bus companies ATVO Express and ACTV City Bus take you to the city center in 20 to 35 minutes for 8 €(2019).

Public Transport
Venice has an unusual city structure and the most commonly used public transport is gondolas and water buses. You can use buses and taxis in the car-free areas of the city.
Since the parts of the city and the islands after Piazzale Roma terminal are closed to car traffic, if you want to visit historical areas and islands, we recommend you travel by gondolas through the canals. The streets of the city are very narrow in this area and you can reach the destination by gondola or water bus and explore the city on the route you want from there.
Gondola prices are almost the same and are negotiable. Water buses are quite expensive compared to gondolas. You can negotiate without getting on vehicles that cost 1.8 € per minute (2019).
ATVO Express and ACTV City Bus are bus companies that serve in public traffic areas. You can get the travel cards provided by the companies to use these buses. The cards have different options: € 20 for 24 hours and € 24 for 36 hours(2019).
The best way to discover Venice is to stroll through the narrow streets of the city and travel by gondola on the canals of the city.
