Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport is named after the country’s president who died in 2014. It comprises of four terminals dedicated to departure and arrivals areas. The terminals are linked through a shuttle bus service. The fourth terminal was included in 2006 after big sums of investments that led to increase in the airport’s total capacity up to 70 million passengers per year.

Transport from Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport to the City Center

Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport is well connected to Madrid city center through bus, train and metro lines. Metro line Nuevos Ministerios - Aeropuerto T4 provides direct access between the airport and city center in about 20 minutes. There are two stops named as Aeropuerto T1 T2 T3 and Aeropuerto T4 in accordance with the names of terminals. Another possibility to get the city center is by trains. "Cercanías" which is the local train service runs on lines C1 and C10 from the airport train station, Aeropuerto T4.

The trains depart every 15 minutes and one way journey costs 2.60 euros. Bus connections are also available via urban and intercity buses. Bus lines 200, Express-203, N27 Express and 101 goes to Madrid city center. On the other hand, a number of long distance buses work on lines 822, 824, 827, 828.

Public Transport

Madrid has a practical and interconnected network of public transport. Metro, bus and the local rail service ‘Cercanias’ are commonly used means of transport in the city.
