Kharkiv International Airport
The history of the airport dates back to the pre-war years. However the construction of the current building was completed in 1954. Therefore it showcases features of Stalinist architecture of the 50s. Although the popularity of the airport relatively decreased after the fall of the Soviet Union, it went through reconstruction by 1995 and opened up international flights. The airport served about 600.000 people in 2016. Currently, it continues to be an important transport hub in the region hosting the major airline companies around the world.
Transport from Kharkiv International Airport to the City Center
The airport is very well connected through extensive network of public transport. You can take the trolley bus number 5, number 115e or bus number 119 to stop at Prospekt Haharina metro station and reach the airport from there quite easily. Otherwise you can take minibuses number 152e and 255e that goes directly to the airport and departs from Akademika Barabashova metro station. You need to get off at Romashkina stop to reach the airport.
Alternatively, you can take a taxi or utilize car rental services offered by Pegasus Airlines in order to make your journey more comfortable.
Public Transport
Utilizing the metro would be the most suitable option to get around the city. The city has three metro lines identified with red, blue and green colors. The picturesque metro stations in Kharkiv are worth taking the trip. The tickets are sold at the metro stations. You can also use trolley bus, tram and minibuses to move in the city. If you are staying close to the city center, you can easily discover the city on foot.

Places to see
Kharkiv is the first capital city of Ukraine. As it was also part of the former Soviet Union the city still displays the characteristics of the Soviet architecture. You will be amazed by the grandiose buildings at Svobody Square and Derzhprom. Kharkiv History Museum, Kharkiv Art Museum and Kharkiv Opera and Ballet Theatre are the major cultural sites that you can visit. If the weather is good enough you should spare a couple of hours to relax at the amazing city parks such as Maxim Gorky and Shevchenko Park.
