Transport from Athens International Airport to City Center
You can get to the city center from Athens International Airport with the railway, metro, direct bus, taxi, and car.
The railway is available for every 15 to 25 minutes between 06.09 and 22.09. In order to use the railway and other means of public transportation, you need to buy a rechargeable “Athena Card” which is available at the airport. The trip to the city center costs 1.40 euros.
Metro Line 3 connects Athens International Airport to the city center between 06.30 and 23.30 every 30 minutes. The trip costs 8 euros and takes approximately 40 minutes.
Direct buses are available 24/7 with four different routes (x93 to Kifisou Avenue, x95 to Syntagma Square, x96 to Piraeus, x97 to Elliniko). X95 direct bus line connects the airport to Athens city center. The trip to the city center with the X95 direct bus line takes approximately 60 minutes.
There are also many taxis available in the airport 24/7. The trip to the city center (Syntagma Square) costs 38 euros and takes approximately 40 minutes.

Public Transport
You can use metro, public buses, tram and taxis to get around in Athens.
Metro consists of 3 lines and is available from 05.00 AM to midnight. On Fridays and Saturdays, the last train departs at 2 AM. A 90-minute ticket costs 1.40 euros and a 24-hour ticket costs 4.5 euros.

There are 3 tram lines in Athens that are available between 5.30 AM to 01.00 AM and cover most of Athens’ popular attractions. On weekends the last tram departs from the city center at 2.15 AM.
You can also use taxis to get around in the city. They cost 0.74 cents per kilometer with an initial fee of 1.29 euros. At night, they cost 1.29 euros per kilometer.
